University Research Programs

The University of Bergamo considers research its main strategic activity. UniBg invests in the development of talents, innovation, support for researchers and international collaborations, providing different types of funding for research.

Assegni di ricerca

The University of Bergamo, within the frame of its STaRs program, fosters the recruitment of young researchers through two types of grant:

  • Senior researcher: for 2023 the University provides funding for 21 grants with a two-year timescale (€ 25,000 a year) for those with a Ph.D or equivalent qualification. In addition, a personal research fund of € 1,500 is ensured yearly.
  • Junior researcher (1-year grant): for 2023 the University provides funding for 8 grants with one-year timescale (€ 25,000 a year)  and 8 for grants with two-year timescale (€ 25,000 a year)  those with a master degree or equivalent qualification. In addition, a personal research fund of € 1,500 is ensured yearly.

Incoming Visiting

The University of Bergamo fosters the involvement of professors and researches from renowned universities from all over the world. The programs for 2024 are:

  • Short-term incoming visiting: grants for professors and researchers from foreign universities for research activities lasting from 15 to 30 days at the University of Bergamo (maximum grant: € 3,780 gross amount, subject to taxes, according to the current legislation, and therefore the effective amount the visiting is going to receive is lower than the total awarded amount).
  • Long-term incoming visiting: grants for professors and researchers from foreign universities for research activities lasting from 31 to 60 days at the University of Bergamo (maximum grant: € 7,560 gross amount, subject to taxes, according to the current legislation, and therefore the effective amount the visiting is going to receive is lower than the total awarded amount).

 The application can be submitted only by the inviting Professor at UniBg, following the procedure described on MyUniBg.

Outgoing Visiting

The University of Bergamo fosters the international cooperation by providing to its professors and researchers an outgoing visiting scheme. In 2024 the possibilities are:

  • Outgoing Visiting Professor: the funds address professors and researchers for research activities lasting from 15 to 30 days in foreign institutions (€ 5,000 maximum coverage).
  • Outgoing Visiting Fellow: the funds address research fellows for research activities, lasting from 15 to 30 days in foreign institutions (€ 5,000 maximum coverage).
