As part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), a number of two-year activities targeting non-EU regions have been funded. These projects, called Transnational Education (TNE), have the overall goal of promoting cooperation with foreign universities to encourage the internationalization of Italian universities and to promote the Italian higher education model as a best practice internationally.
Particularly, in addition to Asia, the University of Bergamo is part of the TNE Africa initiative with the UNITAFRICA project.
The program is designed by Italian universities within the University Network for Development Cooperation (CUCS), with the aim of strengthening academic collaboration between Italy and Africa by promoting joint training, research, and international academic cooperation in a mutually enriching learning process.
The Alliance brings together 21 Italian universities and 93 African universities, working together to achieve the defined objectives. In this context, a platform for innovative teaching and mobility (PIT) has been designed to maximize the impact of the project by sharing information and materials, virtual teaching, and facilitating the mobility of academics and students..
The University of Bergamo plays an active role in the platform, as it will serve as the channel through which a series of online teaching activities in the field of Economics will be carried out.
Additionally, students from African universities will also have the opportunity to participate in a semester of mobility at the University of Bergamo.
