Before the campus

Before being a significant milestone in the artistic landscape of the early 16th-Century Bergamo, the history of the pictorial and sculptural decoration of Palazzo Bassi is first of all the emblem of a branch of the Cassotti family. The branch coming from Mazzoleni, in the Imagna Valley, that had made its fortune by selling wool cloth, building business relationships in several Italian and foreign cities such as: Pesaro, Bari, Napoli, Trani, Benevento, Alexandria and even Cairo. The Palace has been seat of the Museo Bernareggi until 2018. Within the partnership agreement, signed in September 2018, between Fondazione Bernareggi and the University of Bergamo, a new setup has been arranged for the spaces on the second floor of via Pignolo 76.
