The Italian Language Centre (CIS) organizes free of charge courses of Italian Language and Culture to develop foreign students’ linguistic and intercultural skills with the aim of helping them to integrate into the Italian social and academic context.
Lessons are held in-person at the University Campus.
WHO ARE COURSES AIMED AT?
Erasmus students and those from other international exchange programmes (e.g. double degree programmes or bilateral agreements, etc.).
Erasmus students who choose to include the Italian Courses in their Learning Agreements will need to ask to their home University Erasmus coordinator to approve the Italian language courses’ credits.
Erasmus students can also choose Italian Courses for personal interest/culture, in this case there is no need to include it in the L.A/approve by the Home University Erasmus coordinator.
WHAT TYPES OF COURSE?
- 10 lessons of 4 academic hours for a total of 40 academic hours in September;
- 5 lessons of 4 academic hours for a total of 20 academic hours in February
No credits are offered for these courses. The courses cover different levels A1 – A2 – B1
- Oral language lab (level A1/A2);
- Oral language lab (level B1/B2);
- Pronunciation lab (20 hrs, for all levels).
ATTENDANCE
PLEASE NOTE: to be admitted at the final exam it is compulsory a 50% attendance of each course (this means students can miss a maximum of 12 lessons for the general courses).
FINAL TEST AND CERTIFICATES
At the end of each course there is a final test.
Incoming students who have included the course in their learning agreement: the Language Centre Secretary’s Office will not issue a certificate for having passed the course, but the result will be inserted into the student’s “Transcript of Records”, if included in the Learning Agreement.
Incoming students who have NOT included the course in their learning agreement: the CIS administrative staff will provide students with an attendance certificate.
Second/Spring semester:
Italian Language Intensive courses: (A1, A2, A2+/B1):from 10th to 14th February 2025
Italian Language general courses: 19th February to 23rd May 2025
Enrollment application form will be published.
During the semester you can also join:
- the Italian Language general courses. You can add them to your Learning Agreement and they will provide you with 6 credits.
In this case the entry test will be held in presence (date to be defined).
- Special courses: Writing, Italian Business language, Italian Culture, Italian for Human Sciences, Oral Comprehension and Production, Reading and Speaking with Expression, Public Speaking– 3 credits per course.
- Workshops (without credits)
To add these courses you need to specify the codes you will find below in your Learning Agreement.
Students will find below:
Duration: 3 weeks, 1-19 July 2024 (with the possibility of attending only two weeks from July 1 to 12)
Course organization: 24 hrs per week (4 hrs in the morning, from Monday to Friday and 2 hrs in 2 afternoons)
Levels: 3 - based on an entry test
Cultural activities: Opera singing, Arts, cultural tours to discover Bergamo
Experience-based and recreational activities: Cooking, Italian songs, Italian gestures, end-of-course aperitivo
Minimum age required: 18
Enrolment deadline: 3rd June
Final attendance certificate.

For students of level B1 the third week will be focused on contemporary Italian culture with conferences on Arts, Cinema, Literature and Sociolinguistics held by University Professors
