University funding opportunities

The University of Bergamo considers research its main strategic activity. UniBg invests in the development of talents, innovation, support for researchers and international collaborations, providing different types of funding for research.

The University of Bergamo, within the frame of its STaRs program, fosters the recruitment of young researchers through two types of grant:

  • Senior researcher: for 2023 the University provides funding for 21 grants with a two-year timescale (€ 25,000 a year) for those with a Ph.D or equivalent qualification. In addition, a personal research fund of € 1,500 is ensured yearly.
  • Junior researcher (1-year grant): for 2023 the University provides funding for 8 grants with one-year timescale (€ 25,000 a year)  and 8 for grants with two-year timescale (€ 25,000 a year)  those with a master degree or equivalent qualification. In addition, a personal research fund of € 1,500 is ensured yearly.

The University of Bergamo, to foster the internationalization, promotes the involvement of professors and researches from renowned universities from all over the world to carry out research at UniBg.

For 2025, the University of Bergamo offers grants for professors and researchers from foreign universities for research activities for a minimum of 10 working days and a maximum of 40 working days at the University of Bergamo (minimum grant 2,800 € gross/ 3,300 € gross depending on the country of origin of the Visiting Researcher).

  • Short term visiting periods last between 10 and 20 consecutive working days;
  • Long term visiting periods last between 21 and 40 consecutive working days.

The 2025 call is closed.

The new call for 2026 will be published indicatively in June/July 2026.

The University of Bergamo fosters the internationalization by providing to its professors, researchers and fellows an outgoing visiting scheme for 2025 to carry out research.

UniBg offers grants for mobilities for a minimum of 10 consecutive working days and a maximum of 20 consecutive working days (minimum grant 2,300 / 2,800 € depending on the destination of the Visiting).

  • RTD-A and Fellows (assegnisti di ricerca): Visiting Fellows.
